Holistic Health Begins at Home
Holistic medicine has been practiced for many ages. It is only recently starting to re-submerge, as more and more people look for more natural ways to treat their illness. Many are shying away from the mainstream medicines, as report after report comes out about unwanted side effects of man made medicines. Holistic medicine teaches that one should treat the entire body, not just the ailing part. It teaches that mind, body and spirit should all be in harmony to achieve optimum health benefits. For instance, mainstream medicine may advise anti depressant, if you are depressed. That does not address the cause of the depression, it merely treats the symptom.Holistic practitioners use many different methods of treating their patients. While you will take medicine to treat the symptoms of a disease, they will also offer "whole body" wellness solutions. They will address diet issues and encourage eating healthier foods. They will also offer suggestions for use of natural herbs to enhance overall body wellness. Group counseling sessions may also be offered.
This can be very expensive, if you have to return to a holistic practitioner for every small piece of advice. You can save yourself a lot of money by doing your own research. For instance, we all know that eating healthier foods is better for us. You don't need to pay someone to set you up a diet rich in healthy foods.
Become your own researcher. Use Google to learn all that you can about holistic medicine, and some of the things that are practiced. Mind, body and spirit all play an important role in our health. Make a list of each heading and describe what you think is wrong with your mind, body or spirit.
Is your mind filled with worrisome thoughts? Perhaps you can talk to a friend or family member about whatever is bothering you. Does your spirit seem down? Liven things up by going and doing something fun, or entertaining.
